SKYCLAD Concentrating On Writing And Recording New Material
September 26, 2006British "folk metal" act SKYCLAD has posted the following message on its official web site:
"In order to clarify things, we regret to say that the band will not be playing any gigs in October. Instead we will be concentrating on writing and recording some new material for the next album.
"Following on from the touring we did earlier in the year, we had hoped to organise a 'mini-tour' in October but 'joining up the dots' proved to be too difficult — and, as had happened in April, the band didn't want to drive halfway across Europe between gigs (Paris to Naples then Gent in four days is no fun — honestly). However, the gigs that were confirmed are being moved to February when the band will tour between the 17th and the 24th and these gigs will follow on from the gigs at Stockport on the 3rd of February and the Brighton show which is being re-arranged for the 10th of February.
"It is important to stress that, as this is the band's official website, it is only when gigs are confirmed and CONTRACTED that we will post them here. Until then any dates and gigs that are proposed, [to be confirmed] or [to be announced] should not be counted on, no matter where they are posted. For example, we are hoping to play several gigs before the end of the year (some in the Baltic States) and when they are finalised to our satisfaction we will post the details here.
"We strongly believe that when we tour it to be properly promoted and as well organised as possible.
"We regret any misunderstanding and hope that no one has been too inconvenienced as we look forward to doing some great gigs (perhaps with some new material) in February."
SKYCLAD earlier in the year issued a new EP, entitled "Jig-a-Jig". The disc features a brand new recording of the instrumental track "Jig-a-Jig", along with the songs "The Roman Wall Blues", "They Think It's All Over - Well Is It Now?" and "Mr Malaprope" from the "A Semblance Of Normality" sessions. This EP is not available in any record stores — it is only available from the band's webshop and on tour.
SKYCLAD's most recent album, "A Semblance Of Normality", was released in 2004 through Demolition/Dreamcatcher Records. The album was mixed and mastered at the Damage Inc. Studio in Italy by Dario Mollo, who has previously worked with ANATHEMA, CRADLE OF FILTH, TONY MARTIN and GLENN HUGHES, among others.
